Description
Beach at Longboat Key near Sarasota, Florida. The stunning aquamarine color of the water is due to the fine white sand extending out into the key. Being here makes me just want to breathe deeply and be grateful that I am a Floridian and living near the Gulf of Mexico.
I was away for 30+ years, living in Virginia, but moved back to Florida when I retired. Growing up in this area, I always felt a visceral connection to the Gulf and, no matter where I wandered, I was always able to orient myself in relation to this body of water. When I lived away from here, I always felt a little lost.

Thank you so much, Cheri - I was on my way somewhere, and the color of the sky and water, the bright whiteness of the sand made me feel I HAD to stop and breathe it all in.
