Description
Some of my favorite abstract work comes from unrecognizably fuzzy photography. This was going to be a portrait of a friends dog, but the dog was moving and, apparently, so was I, resulting in a collage of interesting color with very little form. So I cropped and enhanced the saturation and contrast, and did a little tweaking, bending, and skewing. For a while I thought it was going to turn out to be trash, like many projects I embark upon, but suddenly it started to snap into place, and I liked it. I hope you do, too.
What this work developed into evokes in me a sense of nostalgia for somewhere I have never been, or perhaps have but I dont remember. None of us knows what might be awaiting us in the after life, or even if there is one. According to Eckhart Tolle, there is no after, no before, there is just Life, and it and we are all eternal. Perhaps that far shore for which we yearn has been within us all along, just waiting to be acknowledged. Again, as Tolle says, the way to salvation is simply to realize that you are already there.
