Artist's Description

Thought I would try my hand at something with a kind of Zen simplicity. I like the soft coloring of this presentation. Featured are two needles from a Cooks Pine (often mistaken for the Norfolk Island Pine but, really, totally different) and one large and very sharp needle from either a Monkey Puzzle or, more likely, a Bunya Bunya Pine. The Monkey Puzzle and the Bunya Bunya are also frequently mistaken for one another, and the latter is often referred to as Monkey Puzzle.

The points on these needles are extremely sharp, to the point (no pun intended) that there was an article recently in a central Florida newspaper that a 150 year old Monkey Puzzle tree was going to be cut down, because little children playing near the tree could hurt themselves. Personally, I say put a fence around the tree and teach the children to stay away from it.

I ordered a framed print of this, and it looks beautiful hanging on the wall in my study.

I was a shutterbug as a child, with my Brownie box camera but, since getting my first digital camera, have been shooting anything and everything and digitally manipulating the images, often with surprising results. Sometimes, instead of modifying a photograph, I start from scratch, resulting in some of my...
